The Review:  

New Balance Los Angeles hosted their annual Girls Night Out #GNO event in multiple cities around LA and I was lucky enough to snag a spot at the Santa Monica event.  The event was full of fun including a photo booth, free massage from LA Sports Massage (so good!), caricatures by ToonUpz, acai bowls from Amaze Bowls and much more.  While checking out the pre-workout fun, I noticed a shoe trial station where you could try out the Fresh Foam Zante v2 or the 860v6 shoe during the workout.  I've been eyeing New Balance's fresh foam shoes lately so immediately went with the Zante v2.  The shoe runs small and had to go a size up, but my size was available so no big deal.

New Balance has stepped up its shoe game lately, but honestly have not heard much about their shoes or their performance outside of the faithful New Balance crowd so was quite interested to see how the shoes performed.  

I've worn thin soled, lightweight shoes for years and haven't always loved transferring to a thicker sole because the shoe always feels "heavy" when running or cross-training.  The first thing I noticed was how lightweight the Fresh Foam Zante v2 was so things were off to a good start!  

I have a high instep and can sometimes run into issues if the shoe has a sock-like fit or if the tongue is directly attached to the body of the shoe.  I initially thought this may be an issue as I struggled to get the shoe over my instep, but quickly realized the shoe laces just needed to be loosened :)

New Balance Ambassador Sarah Kusch led a packed house through a fun, high intensity workout and can say the Fresh Foam Zante v2 did not disappoint!  The cushioned sole supported my feet throughout almost an hour of plyometrics, squats and lots of shenanigans. Towards the end of the workout when fatigue kicked in, I never felt the weight of the shoe which is key as this has been the time when I've struggled the most with a thicker soled shoe.  

Overall, the Fresh Foam Zante v2 shoe is a winner.  Really impressed at how supportive and comfortable they are.  The sole has an airy feel with just the right amount of support.  Not too bulky but still lightweight, but also not too light and lacking adequate support.  At no point during the workout was I worried about my temperamental knees and felt completely comfortable going full speed...even though it only happened once!  Was only able to trial the shoes during the cross-training workout and would love to see how the should performs during a run as well.  Was pleasantly surprised with the New Balance Fresh Foam Zante v2 and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a lightweight, supportive shoe.
