Meet Ashley Guarassi - Personal Trainer & Boxing Coach
Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that boxing is all the rage. Every "It" girl in fitness has made sure to add the perfectly posed boxing picture to her profile. It's touted as the go to exercise from Victoria's Secret models to the everyday fitness fan.
I've been a boxing fan for well over five years so am glad to see it's emergence into mainstream fitness and even happier to see women joining in. I noticed Ashley on Instagram about a year ago and have watched her become the female face of boxing in Los Angeles so featuring her in this BEHIND the BRAND interview series was a no-brainer.
Ashley is sharing her BEHIND the BRAND story of how naysayers drive her to succeed and what's in store for the rest of 2016!
Name & Title
Personal Trainer & Boxing Coach
What inspired you to become a trainer and boxing coach?
I love helping people and was always an athlete growing up, but became really motivated when I got into boxing. I’m inspired by people achieving their goals and overcoming challenges in life and love how boxing empowers women and builds confidence.
In addition to being a trainer & fitness model, you also have a hugely popular Instagram page, how do these elements play into your overall “brand?”
Instagram helps in marketing my brand and increases business as it shows that I train and “practice what I preach.” Clients are more inclined to train with me when they see what I do.
What’s a typical day in the life like for you?
What’s been your biggest success thus far?
Successes include booking a Nike commercial, launching my “Boxing Diaries” event, working with non-profits like Ruby Projects (@rubyinsiders - Instagram) that service women and teens who’ve been through trauma and of course becoming very busy with private training clients.
Top three tools/apps/technology you can’t live without
Since starting your journey, what’s been the biggest surprise or something you didn’t expect?
Biggest surprise is the popularity of and demand for boxing!
What’s the best advice you’ve received thus far?
Never give up!
We’ve seen your wok with brands such as Adidas and Kali Active, so what can we expect for the rest of 2016?
For the rest of 2016, I’ll be working with commercial brands such as Puma, Reebok and Nike on commercial and print work. There will also be lots of travel for work with clients and possibly marketing opportunities overseas.
Extra credit: How do you stay motivated?
I stay motivated by the will and want to do better and to prove people wrong. I’ve had a lot of people doubt me and say that because I’m not an actual fighter that I won’t succeed or that it’s too hard to make it in LA. Most importantly, I really want to say to myself that I gave it my all and inspired others through my training and hard work.
Have you jumped on the boxing bandwagon yet? Such a great workout.
